
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 29

Requesting the Division of Highways name portions of Interstate 77
and U. S. Route 460 the "Veterans Memorial Highway".

Whereas, West Virginia owes a debt of gratitude to her sons
and daughters who served in the armed forces of the United States
with distinction and returned and those whom the winds of war swept
from these mountains forever; and

Whereas, It is a fitting tribute and a demonstration of our
respect and appreciation to name the portion of Interstate 77 from
the East River Tunnel to the junction of U. S. Route 460 and the
portion of
U. S. Route 460
from the junction of Interstate 77 east
to the West Virginia border in memory of all West Virginians who
served in all wars; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
name the
portion of Interstate 77 from the East River Tunnel to the
junction of U. S. Route 460 and
the portion of U. S. Route 460 from
the junction of Interstate 77 east to the West Virginia border the "Veterans Memorial Highway" and to erect attractive signs so
designating it at numerous places on the designated portions; and,
be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner
of the Division of Highways, the Secretary of the Department of
Transportation, the Director of the Division of Veterans' Affairs,
the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs and Public
Safety and the Governor of the State of West Virginia.
